Penumbra - Update

Frictional Games, creators of Penumbra, have released version 1.1 which introduces support for more graphics cards, mods and languages.

Version 1.1 is available as an update, for those that already have version 1.0, as well as a full download. Follow the download tab above for the files.

The update introduces:

-Extended graphic cards support: GeForce 3/4 and Radeon 8500-9200 as well as all previously supported cards.
-Language support: Now supports several different languages. A big Thank You to the community for the translations.
-Extended options: All effects can now be set in-game, allowing users to tweak them for best possible game experience.
-Fixes and additions: A general overhaul of the game fixing reported issues and bugs as well as adding some minor new additions to the game.

Mod Tools

Tools and documentation required to create modifications to Penumbra are also included. To get everyone started there are tutorials and a new section in the forums for mod creators. The develoeprs hope they will stimulate the interest and growth of a mod community. Penumbra is a horror adventure game featuring state of the art graphics and makes heavy use of physics. Penumbra was created as a technology development project, with the aim to explore new uses of physics in games.

Make no mistake, Penumbra may be free but that fact has not limited its development and the game includes all sorts of eye candy that you would demand from a contemporary retail title. It is not just about the tech however and the game's developers have spent a long time making the storyline intriguing and incorporating the in-game physics in such way that the result is a very cohesive and immersive title.

Penumbra is a must-have download for all gamers and proves that a small team of students working for the fun-of-it-all can create an engaging product and a pretty decent engine too.
