EA Cancels South African Titanfall Preorders Due To Poor Internet

Less than four days before Titanfall's March 11th launch, EA decided to cancel all South African pre-orders made through Origin.

"After conducting recent online tests for Titanfall, we found that the performance rates in South Africa were not as high as we need to guarantee a great experience, so we have decided not to release Titanfall in South Africa at this time, " the company explained on its Facebook page.

The minimum ADSL speed is South Africa is 2 Mbps with speeds up to 40 Mbps available with an average speed of 2.3 Mbps. These numbers are below the international average of 3.6 Mbps, but they should be more than enough for multiplayer gaming. It is more likely that Sony is concerned with lag time. Titanfall is multiplayer-only. It runs on Microsoft's Azure Cloud and Microsoft has already confirmed that it has no servers near South Africa.
