Father Hires In-Game Assassins To Kill His Son’s Avatars

After trying everything else and failing to get his 23 years old son to stop online gaming and find a job, one Chinese father opted to hire online "assassins" to kill his son’s virtual selves.

Xiao Feng, the son, is a 23 years old Chinese MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games) addict who considers himself to be a "master of Chinese MMORPGs." According to his dad, Xiao spends nearly all his waking hours playing online and refuses to look for a job. He even quit his last job at a software development company after less than three months.

Mr. Feng hoped that his son would become bored of online gaming and start paying attention to his career. This couldn’t happen soon enough, so he decided to speed things up by hiring more powerful players to hunt down and kill his son’s characters whenever he signs in.

And the father’s plan succeeded… partially. Xiao did get bored of getting killed whenever he tries to play, but he remained nonchalant about getting a job. "I can play or I cannot play, it doesn't bother me. I'm not looking for any job—I want to take some time to find one that suits me," he told his dad.
