Iwata Apologizes For Wii U Launch Issues

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata acknowledged and apologized to Wii U fans for the console’s launch issues and for forcing players to download a huge system update to be able to access network features on launch day.

"Personally I think that users should be able to use all the functions of a console video game machine as soon as they open the box," he said. "So I feel very sorry for the fact that purchasers of Wii U have to experience a network update which takes such a long time, and that there are the services which were not available at the hardware's launch."

An apology is always nice, but it is interesting to note that Iwata had the power to prevent that from happening in the first place.
