The new gaming livestream world record is 572 hours

If you want to be a world record breaker, you need to go to the extremes of what is humanely possible. Especially if it's in as competitive an environment as game streaming, where thousands upon thousands of people all over the world are looking to make a living from the popular pastime. But that's exactly what streamer Andrew "GiantWaffle" Bodine did, when he streamed himself playing games for 19 hours a day for 30 days straight. That's a total of 572 hours.

World records like this are designed to be within reason, that is they allow for basic human necessities like eating, drinking, using the bathroom, washing, and getting in a little sleep to make sure the participants don't actually die in the attempt. But five hours a day for all of that is not a lot to go on, and somehow GiantWaffle managed to make it work.

Throughout November he streamed himself playing Red Dead Redemption 2, Luigi's Mansion 3, Escape from Tarkob, Rocket League, Factorio, and Rainbow Six Siege, among others, as per Kotaku.

He reportedly spent several months readying himself for this feat, retraining his circadian rhythm to allow him to get by on just a few hours of sleep a night. It ultimately lead to him breaking existing streaming records of 566 hours from ItsArmand, and 569 hours, from JayBigs, becoming the new streaming marathon record holder.

It's netted him fame and perhaps fortune, with thousands of new subscribers, millions of stream views, and a spot in the record books... for now.
