If you like playing retro games emulated on your Nintendo Switch, you'll soon be able to do so with the classic controllers, or the closest possible modern approximation of them. The portable home console now has full support for new NES-style Joy-Con controllers.
The new controllers will come in packs of two and will cost $50 for the pair. They're wireless and have the same shape as the original NES controllers (Famicom controllers in Japan) and charge by slotting on to the sides of the Switch, just like the standard Joy-Cons. That should mean that third-party charging stations will work with them too, but we can't confirm that at this time.
Set to go up for pre-order on September 19, we don't have a hard release date for them yet, but with the retro collection of NES games coming to the Switch on September 18, we wouldn't expect them to become available too far into the future. The controllers will be compatible with all 20 of those games, which will be available to Switch owners as part of the £4 a month internet charge that the console will require moving forward.
