Red Dead Redemption 2 with reshade ray tracing looks gorgeous

Red Dead Redemption 2 has always been a good looking game, but it looks even better using the new reshade path tracing plugin, which gives the game a little dose of ray traced lighting effects. It adds a new layer of detail and immersion to the experience, making for a more lifelike world than ever before. That goes doubly when you enable 8K resolution like Digital Dreams did in this recent showcase video:

To run the game at such high details needed a top-tier gaming PC, with an Nvidia RTX 3090 at its heart, paired up with an AMD Ryzewn 3900X and 32GB of high-speed memory. The result is spectacular, though. With some really true-to-life visuals, especially in the open countryside. City streets look great too, but there's something about the way the path traced lighting interacts with foliage and the expansive vistas that really makes the world come alive.

If you want to have a play with the game looking like this yourself -- and you have the hardware to run it -- you can download Digital Dream's reshade settings for this photorealistic look from NexusMods, here. If you want to know what settings they used for the path trace mod, you'll need to subscribe to their patreon.
