Sony acknowledged PlayStation 4 Blue Light of Death (BLOD) problem, but maintained a position that it affects less than 1% of units that were damaged during shipping.
Other than an increasing number of user complaints for receiving bricked consoles, PlayStation 4's launch has been a huge success with more than 1 million units sold during its first day in market.
"There have been several issues reported, which leads us to believe there isn’t a singular problem that could impact a broader percentage of PS4 units," said Satoshi Nakajima, a Tokyo- based Sony spokesman. "We also understand that some units were reportedly damaged during shipping."
Nakajima claimed that the failure rate of shipped PlayStation 4 consoles is less than 1%. The spokesperson then admitted that the company is blaming shipping for the problem as they failed to identify any other reason. "There have been several issues reported, which leads us to believe there isn't a singular problem that could impact a broader percentage of PS4 units," he said.
