Xbox 360 Failure Rate Is 54 Percent

A survey conducted by Game Informer found that more than half of the Xbox 360 units sold to date have experienced hardware failure.

The survey, conducted on 5000 participants, found that Xbox 360 has an astounding 54.2% failure rate, Playstation 3 failure rate is 10.6% and Wii's is just 6.8%.

Furthermore, the survey found that 41.2% of Xbox 360 owners suffered from second failure after having their consoles repaired or replaced by Microsoft.

Microsoft issued an official statement saying that:
"Microsoft stands behind the Xbox 360 as a superior entertainment console with one of the best warranties in the industry. We are constantly improving the design, manufacture and performance of the console through extensive testing of potential sources of any problems. Xbox 360 is pleased to maintain the title of 'most played console' and the vast majority of Xbox 360 customers have enjoyed a terrific gaming and entertainment experience since their first day, and continue to, day in and day out. Any Xbox 360 owners experiencing issues with their console should contact Microsoft for repairs or troubleshooting tips at www.xbox.com/support or 1-800-4-MY-XBOX."

Only 37.7% of the survey's respondents found Microsoft's customer service "very helpful." And though Sony's and Nintendo's repairs usually took a week or two, Microsoft's Xbox repairs generally took closer to a month, Game Informer noted.
