Although still in Early Access, and not set to officially hit 1.0 until June next year, Ark: Survival Evolved may already be working on expansion content, with plans to release a boat load of extras quite soon after the game has released. The reason, is that for fans who have been with the game since the early days, where content releases have been regular, the developers want to continue to offer them more to do and more to see.
"We have a target around the beginning of next year to start locking down and doing a formal alpha and beta period with the game, so that we can ship and really open up our options for release," said Rapczak in a chat with RPS. "We don't want it to be one day we release, and we just turn a switch and people are like, 'Wait a minute!' We want there to be a definitive exit to Early Access and then release a very polished game."
As others have pointed out, it's good to see that this game has a definitive release point, as many Early Access titles don't make it that far.
Ark: Survival is already incredibly popular though, despite optimization issues that have led to performance problems for many players. Perhaps it's that finally they can experience the BC we were promised back in the early '00s?
Have you been playing Ark? If so, what do you think?
