Trainer does NOT change AI values.  If you press the LOCK icon, THEN you have the trainer constantly writing that value, even when you press turns, which COULD theoritically THEN write to AI nations.
Probably best NOT to use the freeze icons and then press END TURN.  Just edit the values, and the values change ONLY for your nation.
In fact, freeze the game or pause while adding options is even smarter!
Score, Stability, and Treasury may have larger looking numbers.  This is normal.  Just edit the value larger or smaller to make changes in the game.
Disable Ironman / Enable Console:
If you are playing an Ironman Mode game, if you want to use the console, toggle this ON, then use your commands, then toggle back OFF.  While this is active you can SAVE and you can use many console commands.  Make sure to toggle back OFF before trying to go back to main menu and etc.  Not for use with non-ironman games.  When loading saves with this, you may also need to toggle on then back off once you load a save to reset the game back into normal ironman mode.
Lift Fog Of War:
Toggle on to see the other factions and armies.

Mute Hotkeys:

To temporarily disable the Hotkeys, press CTRL-H after trainer is
activated.  You can use CTRL-H to re-activate the Hotkeys as well.
You can also mute specific hotkeys by changing the hotkey you want to mute to 'NONE'.
VR Mode

HTC Vive
Click on the 'VR Mode' button. Trainer options will now be drawn as buttons. Activate the trainer as usual with your keyboard. Put your HTC Vive on and when you are ingame press the 'Menu' button on the hand controllers to open the steam overlay. At the bottom you can click on the 'Desktop' button and you can easily press options on the trainer with your hand controller now.
Oculus Rift
Click on the 'VR Mode' button. Trainer options will now be drawn as buttons. Open Oculus dashboard and click on 'Oculus Desktop', now press the buttons on the trainer to toggle the cheats.
