John Carmack says that nv is better for doom3, and the bechmark says that nv are faster that ati in doom3. If you buy a ati dont tell us that your hardware is the best and the other hardware is a ahit please.

but deus ex is make identical for xbox and pc, and doom3 is made for pc and then ported to xbox, isnt the same. but if you dont have a minimun spec pc buy a xbox and dont buy a new pc.

even with the best pc out.........you are NOT going to be able to crank aa and af and res up to max.........no question about it........as for the xbox.......it is a powerfull system.....but if you do have the best pc out....like me.....get it on pc,, cause you will at least be able to run it at 1280x1024, and that is alot better than 800x600, or less for xbox.in the short and long run, a strong pc will always beat a console, it is just something you console lovers have to deal with. i used to be a console guy, then my friend showed me unreal tournament on pc, and i loved it, and i ended up getting it for the ps2, and after that, i was all on pc's and nothing else. unreal tournament for dreamcast is even better than the ps2 version.....although, they both really suck........when it comes to fps (frames per second), a pc will always come ahead. xbox only has 64MB of RAM to work with, well, i have 1 gig of pc 3200 corsair on my pc, and when a map gets loaded, it is flawless on most games out today....unreal tournament 2003 runs flawlessly with all turned up.....and for the xbox, there is no way in h ell, that you can get a game to run like that......on a tv, the highest fps (frames per second) you will see, and it will perform, is 30 fps, or lower. as for pc, i get up to and above 100 fps for unreal tournament 2003.a strong pc will always win......no questions, and even if it isnt tuned all the way max.......oh, and for the d icks that always post as 1st, 2nd and so on,,,,,man, you girls need to get lives, or la id, or something....if i knew you.....i would k ill you.....no questions....you must be extreamly shallow, or stupid to type a line stating what place you are in on a forum....i just do not understand your stupid logic......f uckin fa gs

yes u are right pc r the best but if u dont have a top line pc u should try this game 4 xbox i heard all graphics r guna be the same except for resolution will be worse on xbox cuz u watch it on a tv with only 480 lines of res.(except 4 japs and chinese who have 525 as there standard) .But u complain that xbox has only 64mb ...true but it doesnt need alot of memory to play a game cuz there is nothin runnin in the background and it doesnt got windows loaded and the game when ported will be made to take advantage of the xbox's arhitecture so xbox doesnt really need high specs to get good graphics

I have a 2.6ghz, 800mhz FSB, 1 gig dual channel DDR, S-ATA hard drive and a 9800pro 128 meg.Doom 3 alpha FPS rates:Everything turned on, 2xaa, 1024x768.avg fps: 35max fps: 60lowest fps: 12The max fps for doom3 is 60fps. this is because doom3 uses openGL instead of direct3d.When the full version of the game comes out, fps will be better. 9800pro's are very expensive; however, i still wouldn't reccomend buying an aging console like the xbox. Lets look at 9700pro's. These cards are very fast and trail the 9800pro's by just 10-20fps in most games. These cards are still priced aggresively, about $100 to $150 less than the 9800pro. Unless radeon comes out with a revolutionary card that kicks the 9800 series @$$, we can't expect a huge decrease in price for these cards in 2004, maybe $100 less by the end of spring.What does this mean? well the 5900ultra's cost more money, and there is a lot of bad air around them. I'm not bias towards any card. I look at fps benchmark facts. Any game 3 months ago ran faster on a 5900ultra, then along comes DX9 games and the FX series all of a sudden sucks horribly. Doom3 runs better on a 5900ultra than it does on a 9800pro, because it uses openGL. However, the 9800pro rapes the 5900ultra in half-life2, and all other upcoming Direct3D games. Doom3 is the only thing the FX series has going for it. Either way, to run doom3 at good fps, you are going to need a $400 card. Do you want to spend $400-$500 on a card that won't run the games coming out in 2-3 months nicely? If you are going to spend the money right at this moment, grab a 9800pro or XT. If nvidia comes out with something faster in the next couple months, buy that! Stop being loyal to the company, be loyal to the FACTS.Either way, I support buying any PC part over a console. Doom3 will have to be horribly dumbed down for xbox. Halo slows down on xbox for christ sake. They can't make doom3 magically look better than halo on the same hardware. Sorry console f

the max is 60 because carmack cut the engine nothing about opengl - directx (so you say that 60 fps max because is opengl? jajaja. study a bit). and the alpha dont was cut, you could have more that 60 fps without problem. and pleeeaseeee dont tell us your ati histories, carmack recommend nv for doom3 and the benchmarks of doom3 says that nv is faster that ati. if the programmers will use the lower precision of the nv it will be faster that ati without loss of quality.

hey man, you are saying what we bought an ati. The id engines are the most used engines in fps, and if the nv are faster that the ati in this engine is illogical you recommended us an ati (ati is better in directx games, but the big ones games the next years (games with this engine) are going to run better on nv). conclusion: buy the card you want, for fps nv, for general use ati. dont reccomend us any card you understand?. And you understand the 60 fps problem and what is directx and opengl?

D3D is a 3D rendering driver which is generally slower than OpenGL. ALL the Quake series used OpenGLNot only that, but D3D is in general a memory/processor hog, while OpenGL runs smoother, faster and more efficient.Back when GlQuake came out, most people didn't have support for OpenGL, even for quake 2, some cards still didn't support it. By quake 3, all the standard cards have it, and today, well, they all do.

Ok this is fact Yes OpenGL Was faster in the time of say directx 6 but thats no longer true directx is now faster and opengl is on the way out opengl 2.0 will be the last opengl to be released and doomIII will run faster on NVIDIA cards and HALFLIFE 2 will run faster on ati cards its just the facts when development was started each card company put there focus on a different game thats just that

hum, opengl 2 is not the last opengl to be released. opengl is used in non-gaming aplications and his code is portable and non os depending. is true what directx 9 is good, but opengl is still a bit better and is a joke say that opengl is going to disapear because part of industrial sector use it. dont forget the non-windows users, directx is ONLY an API for one os.

Yeah... Heres some facts:Doom III does run a bit better on nV hardware. Why? Because of a lower precision codepath. If you run nV hardware on the true 100% high precision codepath it suffers, and ATi prevails. Carmark himself said this.The R300 series of the Radeon were specifically designed for DX9. The FX series was not. It's more of a DX8 card with DX9 features.Kaapeesh?

Just a quick note to that idiot who insulted my previous post on Doom 3: Xbox. what does he know? He calls the Xbox a pile of **** despite the fact that it can handle a higher polygon count than my Radeon 9600 , even though it runs at 640x480. and dont tell me 640x480 looks crap because through a television it looks quite sharp, not fuzzy like on a PC monitor. he's obviously not really used an Xbox b4.i think for the time being, you should all reserve judgement until the game actually comes out. no one can say how it will run. hell, it may surprise that small-minded guy with its performance. all i wanted to say was that even if the xbox version did look a little bland, no pc video card is likely 2 be powerful enough to put the settings right up anyway, so will we notice a huge difference? Don't post a reply to this calling me a d**khead UNTIL you've played the freaking game. because none of us can say how it will run. I only hope it runs well on the box to prove that idiot wrong.

I get the feeling this game is going to be dissapointing. Return to castle Wolfenstein was dumb. However, being Doom, I am hopeful it will be good.

first off i have been one of the lucky people to play this games demo at quakecon and the game its self is awsome it sucks you in and freaks you out better than any game i have played in awile and i must first say that i hated doom one and two. i prefer quake myself. there was a level in doom 3 where the hwole building was distroyed and broken down and most the people were dead and you had to find a scientist who was alive and with a lanturn to guide you to the power roon and while your doing this you hear all the monsters coming from all sides in the dark and you still cant see them and as you go along they all start coming out after you.you have to keep the scientist alive to get and farther its a scary *** game and poeple should play before judging
