X-Men 2 getting under way

When a movie brings in $54.5 million dollars in just its first week of release you know there will be a sequel. The problem though will be to find a good enemy for the friendly mutants.
Ian McKellen is bound by his contract to return as Magneto "under certain conditions." The Sentinels, those mutant-seeking killer robots created by the U.S. government to work as peacekeepers between humanity and the mutants, are currently favorites for the bad guy role.
Another question is what kind of side story will begin since now Wolverine has discovered much about his mysterious origins. Maybe the Professor will discover a lost love or storm will fall for a hurricane, the possibilities are endless.
Whatever happens, the movie has been given a summer 2002 scheduled release.
