Dig Island
Dig Island is developed and published by FiftyEight Studios. The game entered Steam Early Access on January 30, 2026, for Windows PC. A plane crash strands you on a tropical island where an old survivor teaches you the basics of staying alive. From there, you dig, craft, and explore to repair your plane and find a way home.
Über das Spiel
Dig Island blends survival, crafting, and mining into one core loop strike the ground, manage your resources, and go deeper. Every swing of the shovel drains Energy, every mistake costs Health, and neglecting food brings on Hunger, so digging becomes a constant balancing act. Deeper layers hold rarer materials, but poor planning can leave you stranded underground with no way back up.
Crafting sits at the center of everything. Ores get smelted into ingots at the furnace, components get refined, and a growing list of stations turns raw materials into tools, upgrades, and eventually the parts needed to fix your crashed plane. Power management adds another layer generators need fuel, and rooftop solar panels must be repaired before they provide steady energy. Up to four players can share the load, splitting digging, base management, and survival tasks as a team.
Wesentliche Merkmale
- Deep Digging Mechanics Every strike of the shovel consumes Energy, and going deeper unlocks rarer resources at greater risk. Health and Hunger drop alongside your progress, so pacing matters as much as ambition.
- Elevator and Jetpack Traversal A pulley-and-rope elevator system speeds up travel between the surface and your dig sites, while a jetpack opens up areas that walking or swimming alone can’t reach.
- Power-Dependent Crafting Furnaces, craft stations, and other equipment all draw on base power. Fuel-hungry generators keep things running early, and repaired solar panels eventually automate part of the system.
- Up to 4-Player Co-op The full survival loop, digging, basebuilding, plane repair, and exploration, can be tackled solo or shared across four players working the island together.

|---|---|---|
| Floß | Raft centers survival around an ocean voyage instead of vertical digging. However, both games share a strong co-op focus and a similar loop of scavenging materials to expand a home base. | Players who want ocean exploration alongside base building. |
| SteamWorld Dig 2 | SteamWorld Dig 2 leans on 2D platforming and puzzle-like cave layouts, whereas Dig Island uses a 3D first-person voxel world. The core idea of digging deeper for better gear still carries over. | Players who prefer a tighter, level-based digging experience. |
| Forager | Forager compresses resource gathering, crafting, and base expansion into a top-down, idle-friendly format. Dig Island instead asks for more moment-to-moment survival management. | Players who enjoy resource loops without survival pressure. |
