Steam To Start Personalizing Game Recommendations

Every gamer has a favorite game that never made it to the top 10 lists and that he found by mere chance. Valve hopes to make it easier for each user to find his hidden gems with its new "Recommended For You" game referral Steam feature.

The new system analyzes the user's purchase history to provide automated game recommendations. The system also allows friends to recommend games to each other.

The new system is not that different from Apple's "genius" app recommendation feature on iTunes, or Amazon's personalized recommendation system: nonetheless, this is the first time such a system is used for game recommendation.
