The Scouring

The Scouring comes from developer and publisher Orc Group. The game entered Early Access on August 12, 2025 for PC. Players lead humans or orcs in a real-time strategy game that blends classic base building with action RPG heroes. As a result, the game feels like an old-school RTS with a modern twist.

Because The Scouring follows the classic RTS formula, bases, resources, and armies sit at its core. First, players gather resources and construct buildings. Then they train troops, so the army grows alongside the economy. Meanwhile, waves of undead attack at night, which forces players to defend their bases. Magic and cannons also give battles more variety, because each unit type plays a different role.

A separate hero mode, however, shifts the focus to a single character. In this mode, players also gain experience, collect items, and customize their playstyle. Additionally, dungeons hide precious loot, so exploration pays off. Because the mode blends action RPG combat with army control, it feels different from the standard skirmish.
