Sailing blind is one of Windrose’s biggest friction points. The fog of war reveals itself only when you are practically on top of an island, and the minimap offers little warning of what lies ahead. The Better Minimap Range mod changes that entirely. It pushes your fog-of-war removal radius outward for your character, small boats, and large boats, and optionally widens your minimap view to match. Consequently, you spend less time guessing and more time actually sailing with purpose.

BetterMinimapRange 3x 2x: Triples fog reveal range and doubles minimap display range.
BetterMinimapRange 5x 2x: Maximum fog reveal range with doubled minimap display range.

Why You Need This Mod
The vanilla fog-of-war system in Windrose keeps you dangerously close to discovery at all times. Furthermore, the tight default minimap window gives almost no advance notice of coastlines, enemy ships, or points of interest. This mod corrects both problems without touching any other game system. Moreover, it applies equally to all vessel sizes, so the benefit follows you whether you are on foot or commanding a large ship.
Wie man anfängt

Download your preferred variant and extract the archive to your PC.
In Steam, right-click Windrose → Manage → Browse local files to open the game folder.
Navigieren Sie zu Windrose\R5\Content\Paks\.
If a ~mods folder does not exist, create one with that exact name.
Kopieren Sie die heruntergeladene .pak Datei in die ~mods Ordner.
Launch Windrose. The changes apply automatically with no additional configuration needed.
To uninstall, remove the .pak file from the ~mods folder and relaunch the game.
