Nintendo 3DS Partially Cracked In Less Than A Day

Even though it was designed with an added focus on security and less than 24 hours after it launched in Japan, hackers managed to crack the Nintendo 3DS and make it run pirated DS games through the famous R4 flashcart.

The hack works only with DS and DSi games and not with the new 3DS titles. The hack works by having the user manually modify a whitelist found in the 3DS firmware which contains all the titles that are allowed to run on the 3DS along with their cartridges.

The R4i group responsible for the hack expects Nintendo to release a firmware update which would block it.
