Palworld Now Has Two Separate Mobile Games in the Works. Here’s Why.

Juego: Palworld Online  |  Desarrollador/Editor: Garena, under license from Pocketpair  |  Plataformas: iOS, Android  |  Ventana de liberación: Later in 2026

Garena has officially announced Palworld Online, a standalone mobile MMO built around Pocketpair’s hit survival game. It arrives on iOS and Android later this year. The game features an original story, cooperative base building, and both PvE and PvP content built for touchscreens.

Reaction from Palworld’s existing fanbase has been mixed. Many players doubt a third-party mobile MMO can capture what made the original game special.

What Palworld Online Actually Is

Garena president Terry Zhao described the goal directly. He wants to bring the essence of the PC title to mobile while encouraging players to explore together. The official description promises a seamless open world for creature collecting and cooperative progression.

  • Original story: Palworld Online includes new narrative content and side stories exclusive to this version, separate from the main game’s plot
  • Shared settlements: Players can visit each other’s bases, hunt rare Pals together, and deploy captured creatures to automate crafting and defense
  • PvE and PvP: The game supports large-scale cooperative encounters alongside competitive multiplayer battles
  • Promotor: Garena is building and publishing the game independently, rather than Pocketpair leading development itself

Why Garena, and Why Not Pocketpair?

Garena has nearly 15 years of mobile publishing experience. The company has shipped mobile versions of League of Legends, Path of Exile, and EA Sports FC. It’s also behind Free Fire, one of the most downloaded mobile games in the world.

Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe pointed to that track record as the reason for the partnership. He specifically cited Garena’s experience in global publishing, localization, and live-service operations.

That division of labor matters, since Pocketpair is stretched thin right now. The studio has openly said it’s struggling to hire fast enough to keep up with demand. That demand spiked after Palworld’s July 10 exit from Early Access. Handing the mobile MMO to a specialist frees Pocketpair to focus on the core game instead.

A Genuinely Unusual Wrinkle: Two Mobile Palworld Games

This announcement is more complicated than a standard mobile spinoff. That’s because Palworld Online isn’t the only mobile Palworld project in the works. Krafton is separately building its own, more direct mobile port of the original game.

Two different publishers are now racing to bring Palworld to phones in the same window. Each is taking a very different approach.

Industry outlets say the distinction is deliberate rather than redundant. One analysis argued the Krafton version serves players who want the original experience on their phone. Palworld Online, meanwhile, is built for players who always wanted Palworld to feel more like a traditional MMO.

Why Fans Are Skeptical

Reaction on Reddit has been lukewarm at best. One commenter dismissed the game as a third-party mobile title not worth getting excited over. Another said they wished the content were coming to PC instead, since mobile MMOs rarely feel enjoyable given the platform’s limits.

That skepticism isn’t unfounded, but the audience math still favors Garena. Mobile gaming represents the single largest share of the overall games market. Mobile players make up somewhere between 73 and 83 percent of all gamers worldwide. That gives Garena a massive potential audience, even if core PC fans stay away.

Conclusión

Palworld Online is a calculated bet on reaching a new audience, not a sequel aimed at existing fans. Garena’s mobile pedigree gives the project real credibility. Pocketpair’s decision to hand off development also frees the original team to focus on what made Palworld work in the first place.

Whether the concept translates to mobile is still an open question. That’s especially true with a competing Krafton port launching in the same window.
