Violent Crimes Decreased As Videogame Violence Increased
Plotting the results of a recent study made by the U.S. Department of Justice against violent games release dates revealing an interesting trend of national violent crime rates decreasing as game violence increases.
The number of crime victims per 1000 citizens has been steadily rising from 1986 to 1993 when Doom was released. Since then, the rate has been constantly declining through the releases of other landmark violent games such as Mortal Kombat, Postal, Soldier Of Fortune and GTA.
A more relevant graph, which plots the number of homicide teenage offenders across the same period, featured the exact same trend.
