Beat RType DX using 10 or less credits. Then while playing RType standard press Select A.
Start on Last Level
Hold B and turn off the Gameboy. Now hold B and turn the system on to start on the last level you were playing.

While playing RType DX or RType II Enhanced pause gameplay and press B.
