The Spotter: Dig or Die

The Spotter: Dig or Die

The Spotter: Dig or Die is developed by Puppyroar Games and published by Forklift Interactive and Gamersky Games. It released on April 7, 2026, for Windows via Steam. Stationed at a ruined Nevada gas station, players take on the role of the last Spotter, tasked with holding back mutant hordes long enough to repair a broken receiver and finally hear a message from the President.

About the Game

The Spotter: Dig or Die splits its loop cleanly in two: meditative digging by day, frantic tower defense by night. During daylight hours, players descend into the ground to scavenge resources, racing against a fatigue meter that punishes greed and overexertion. Every trip underground means balancing how deep to push against how much energy remains to climb back out.

Once night falls, the pace shifts entirely. Mutant hordes converge on the gas station, and players must set up automated turrets, traps, and barriers to hold the line, occasionally jumping behind the most powerful turret to personally turn a losing fight around. Three independent tech trees, covering the Character, Turret, and Base, let players specialize into a Hunter, Suppressor, or Artillerist playstyle, while roguelike artifacts found while digging add unpredictable modifiers to each run.

Key Features

  • Day-Night Dig and Defend Loop: Dig for resources during the day while managing a fatigue meter, then defend the base at night against waves of mutants.
  • Three Independent Tech Trees: Upgrade Character, Turret, and Base systems separately, shaping a build around one of three distinct weapon specializations.
  • Manual Turret Control: Step behind the most powerful turret at any time to take direct control and personally swing the tide of a night’s defense.
  • Roguelike Artifacts: Discover run-changing artifacts while digging that add new abilities, from slowing projectiles to a controllable kamikaze drone.
