PC Players May Only Wait Months for Grand Theft Auto VI
Spiel: Grand Theft Auto VI | Entwickler/Herausgeber: Rockstar Games | Plattformen: PS5, Xbox Series X|S | Console Release Date: November 19, 2026 | Veröffentlichungsdatum für den PC: Unconfirmed (Q1 2027 reported)
Rockstar Games reportedly plans to release Grand Theft Auto VI on PC between January and March 2027. GamesBeat published the claim on October 13, citing four unnamed industry sources. If accurate, PC players would wait months instead of years, a first for a modern Rockstar launch.
What the Report Says
Nach Angaben von GamesBeat’s report, all four sources asked for anonymity to protect business relationships. In addition, Rockstar did not respond to a request for comment before publication. The report names a quarter rather than a date, so treat any specific month as speculation.
GamesBeat also lays out a business case for a quick port. With a production budget rumored above $2 billion, Rockstar has a strong reason to widen the audience fast. On top of that, GTA roleplay through the FiveM framework happens entirely on PC.
That point matters more than it might seem. Rockstar bought Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM, in August 2023. Consequently, any roleplay or creator push for the new game would depend on a PC version.
What Take-Two Has Actually Said
Officially, nothing has changed. Rockstar’s site and Take-Two’s earnings materials still list only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PC price or spec sheet either.
Still, there are hints. Forbes notes that Take-Two’s fiscal 2027 slate, which ends March 31, 2027, includes one unnamed platform extension. Some outlets have tied that slot to a PC version of the game.
On the May 21 earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick said the company’s games eventually reach all platforms. At the September 17 shareholder meeting, he added that PC is “becoming more and more important to our company”. He named no date, though.
Skeptics read the same documents differently. Take-Two’s fiscal 2027 release table lists the game on consoles only. Moreover, its net bookings guidance of $8.0 billion to $8.2 billion held steady in August, with no visible PC bump.
How Long Rockstar Usually Makes PC Players Wait
A Q1 2027 launch would break with every recent Rockstar release:
- Grand Theft Auto V: The game reached PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17, 2013. PC followed on April 14, 2015, roughly 19 months later.
- Red Dead Redemption 2: Consoles got it on October 26, 2018. The PC version arrived on November 5, 2019, about 13 months later.
- Grand Theft Auto VI (reported): Consoles get it on November 19, 2026. By VideoCardz’s count, a Q1 2027 PC launch means a gap of 43 to 132 days.
This is also not the first early-2027 claim. In April, an X user known as DetectiveSeeds said three former Rockstar staff pointed to February 2027. However, that rumor came from LinkedIn messages, while GamesBeat is an established trade outlet.
Delays and the Online Question
Rockstar’s track record argues for caution. The first trailer in December 2023 promised a 2025 launch. After that, the date slipped to May 26, 2026, and then to November 19, 2026.
Online play adds another moving part. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy told Bloomberg at Tokyo Game Show in September that he expects the online mode in 2027. Clancy does not speak for Rockstar, though, and Rockstar has not dated online play.
Fazit
A Q1 window looks plausible on paper, since the fiscal calendar, roleplay, and Take-Two’s PC focus all align. Even so, Rockstar has moved the console date twice, and a rushed port is the outcome PC players want least. Treat early 2027 as a hopeful target rather than a plan until a PC version appears on a store page.
This article is based on an unconfirmed report. Neither Rockstar Games nor Take-Two Interactive has announced a PC version or window for Grand Theft Auto VI. MegaGames will update this article as new information becomes available.
