Code Vein II is the highly anticipated sequel to Bandai Namco’s “anime Dark Souls” hit. Officially announced in June 2025 and set for a global release on January 30, 2026, the game expands on the post-apocalyptic vampire saga with a new time-bending narrative. Developed by Bandai Namco Studios, this installment introduces a dual-protagonist system and a unique mechanic that lets players summon vehicles to traverse a larger, more interconnected world.
Time Travel, Vehicles, and Assimilation: Core Gameplay

The Revenant Hunter: Players assume the role of a customizable “Revenant Hunter,” tasked with intervening in key historical moments to rewrite fates. Consequently, the narrative centers on a world where humanity faces extinction due to the “Luna Rapacis,” a force turning Revenants into mindless Horrors.
Partner System 2.0: Furthermore, the sequel deepens the AI companion mechanics. You can now switch between two modes: Summoning (where partners fight independently) and Asimilación (where you merge with your partner for enhanced stats). Crucially, each partner has a unique narrative arc that directly affects the ending.
Vehicle Combat: For the first time, players can summon the Motorcycle Forma to traverse massive environments like the “Sunken City.” This vehicle isn’t just for travel; specifically, it can be used in combat to ram enemies or escape overwhelming hordes.
New “Jails” and Weapons: Additionally, the game introduces “Jails”—specialized equipment replacing the Blood Veils of the first game. Examples include the Reaper Jail (a scythe for crowd control) and the returning Hound Jail. Meanwhile, “Bequeathed Formae” act as ultimate weapons, such as the “Absolute Executioner” greatsword.

Perfecto para co-op lovers. The entire campaign supports multiplayer, allowing you and a friend to tackle bosses together. Thus, you can create a 4-person squad chaos with your respective AI partners.
Saltar si you hate “anime cringe.” The story is unapologetically melodramatic, filled with brooding vampires and power-of-friendship speeches. If that tone annoyed you in the first game, it’s unfortunately dialed up to 11 here.

It works because it leans into its niche. Rather than trying to be a grimdark western fantasy like Almas oscuras, it embraces the “edgy anime vampire” aesthetic wholeheartedly. Moreover, the addition of time travel and vehicles gives it a distinct identity, separating it from the dozens of other Soulslikes on the market. Ultimately, it’s a game about looking cool, fighting with friends, and saving the world with the power of blood and fashion.
