Island Notes places players on a remote tropical island after a shipwreck leaves them stranded with nothing but their wits. The game combines exploration, crafting, and combat as players navigate diverse biomes including dense jungles, volcanic regions, coral reefs, and ancient temple complexes. Players must gather resources, craft tools and weapons, build shelters, and ultimately uncover the island’s dark secrets to find a way home.

The game features a dynamic day-night cycle that affects enemy behavior and resource availability. During the day, players explore and gather, while nights bring more aggressive predators and supernatural threats tied to the island’s mysterious history. Weather systems including tropical storms, fog, and heat waves add additional survival challenges that players must prepare for and adapt to in real time.

Island Notes incorporates a note-taking mechanic that serves as both a journal and a puzzle-solving tool. Players collect fragments of information from scattered documents, carvings, and NPC conversations, piecing together the island’s lore and using clues to unlock hidden areas and solve environmental puzzles. The more notes players collect and organize, the clearer the path forward becomes.
