OCTOPATH TRAVELER 0 is a prequel to the acclaimed HD-2D RPG series, serving as an adaptation and reimagining of the mobile title Champions of the Continent for consoles and PC. Released on December 4, 2025, it marks the first time players can create their own protagonist in the franchise. Set in Orsterra before the events of the original game, you are a “Chosen One” tasked with restoring your destroyed hometown and battling against the holders of the Divine Rings. Create Your Protagonist: For the first time, design your own hero. Choose your appearance, voice, and even your favorite dish. You aren’t just watching eight travelers; you are the ninth, central figure in the story.
Massive Party Roster: Recruit over 30 unique characters to join your cause. Unlike previous games locked to eight travelers, you can mix and match a huge variety of allies, forming parties of up to eight members for large-scale turn-based battles.
Town Building and Restoration: Rebuild your ruined hometown from scratch. Place buildings, homes, and decorations on a grid. As you explore, you’ll invite new residents who provide resources, shops, and bonuses to aid your journey.
Strategic 8-Character Combat: The “Break and Boost” system returns but is expanded for larger parties. Swap rows of fighters, exploit enemy weaknesses with a broader arsenal, and unleash devastating team attacks.
Path Actions: Interact with every NPC in the world. Scrutinize for info, Entreat for items, or Contend in battle. Your created character can learn various Path Actions to manipulate the world around you.
Epic Prequel Story: Experience the “Restoration” and “Retribution” arcs, a dark saga involving the corrupting power of the Divine Rings. The narrative is structured to be less disjointed than previous entries, with your hero anchoring the events.
