Cobra Byte Digital developed and self-published Plains of Pain. It entered Steam Early Access on February 17, 2023. The game is a post-apocalyptic open-world survival sandbox for up to 200 players per session. Furthermore, it combines base building, faction combat, scavenging, trading, and quests into one multiplayer survival world. Full 1.0 release is confirmed as the 2026 target.

About the Game

Plains of Pain drops players into a scorched wasteland with no hand-holding and no fixed story. You survive alone or with friends by scavenging resources, building a base, and fighting rival factions for key outposts. Furthermore, the randomly generated open world means no two sessions share the same map. Consequently, the game works as a living sandbox where the story is made by what players do to each other.
