Nightdive Studios has officially confirmed a new campaign for Thief: The Dark Project Remastered, called The Tarnished Mirror. The announcement came only after achievement-tracking site Exophase accidentally exposed the campaign’s existence through a massive Steam data leak.

Nightdive responded with a tongue-in-cheek teaser rather than a straightforward press statement. A full reveal is scheduled for November 2.

How the Leak Actually Happened

PC Gamer reports that Exophase obtained a large batch of achievement lists for unreleased and even unannounced games. Among major titles like Persona 6, a set of Thief Remastered achievements pointed directly at an unrevealed expansion.

Nightdive’s teaser video acknowledged the leak directly, opening with a montage of posts speculating about the campaign. It then closed on new key art of Garrett by artist Alexandru Negoita, alongside a voice line: “Huh, not so secret anymore.”

What’s Actually Confirmed So Far

Nightdive has confirmed the name and existence of The Tarnished Mirror, though full details await the November 2 reveal. According to VGTimes, the campaign will add three new story missions and five new enemy types on top of the base remaster.

• Base remaster features: Modern gamepad support, achievements, upscaling to 4K at 120fps, an item and weapon wheel, and mission replay
• Community support: Custom campaign creation and sharing, letting players build and distribute their own levels

• Publishing partners: Atari and Eidos-Montréal are both involved alongside Nightdive on the full package

Garrett’s Voice Actor May Be Returning

The teaser’s closing voice line has fans hopeful that Stephen Russell is reprising the role of Garrett. He originated the character across the entire original Thief trilogy.

However, Russell was notably recast for 2014’s Thief reboot, a decision that frustrated longtime fans at the time. Nightdive hasn’t yet confirmed whether the new line is a fresh recording or pulled from existing audio.

Meanwhile, GamingProMax notes the Thief modding scene remains genuinely enormous. Fan campaigns like The Black Parade already stand shoulder to shoulder with the original missions in quality, which sets a high bar for any new official content.
