Japanese Total DS Sales Surpass Playstation 2’s

According to Japanese sales tracker Media Create, Nintendo has finally managed to sell more DS handhelds in Japan than Sony's Playstation 2 sold in all of its four and half years longer lifespan.

According to Media Create, Playstation 2 which was released in Japan on March, 2, 2000 managed to sell 20,901,468 units to date, while Nintendo DS which was released in the same region on November, 21, 2004 managed to sell 20,954,157 units.

Nintendo DS's worldwide sales however are not even close to Playstation 2's. Worldwide, Playstation 2 sold more than 120 million units while DS merely sold 55 million units.
