Unconfirmed: GeForce 9600 Launches Today

News has surfaced that Nvidia will launch their first GeForce 9 graphics card today.

If the news are correct, GeForce 9600 GT will be launched within a few hours.

GeForce 9600 GT adopts a 65nm manufacturing process and it should surpass GeForce 8600 GTS performance by 40%. The card will sell for $170 – $190, forcing the GeForce 8600 GTS price to be readjusted to around $140 – $150.

The card might not be available immediately from all manufacturers due the recent discovery of a bug in the initial 9600 chips relating to power supply. Nvidia has already corrected the issue but some makers still need time to rework on their designs.

Nvidia refused to comment on "unannounced products".
