When the loading screen with the skull appears, use the Left Analog-stick to move the skull.
New Uniform
After highlighting a character press R1 at the selection screen then at the loading player one can control the skull with the left stick, and player two the loading… message with the right.
Loading fun
When the Loading screen comes up move the Left Analog stick to move the Skull, and move the Right Analog stick to move the " Loading" .. it'll give ya something to do while waiting
