Halo: Campaign Evolved is developed by Halo Studios and published by Xbox Game Studios. It released on July 28, 2026, for Windows via Steam, alongside Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, marking the franchise’s first-ever appearance on a PlayStation console. The game rebuilds Halo: Combat Evolved’s original campaign from the ground up, following Master Chief John-117 after his crash landing on the mysterious ringworld known as Halo.

Campaign Evolved keeps the original 2001 story intact while rebuilding nearly everything around it. Every mission returns with high-definition visuals, updated cinematics, and refined level design, alongside a fully rebuilt sound design and remastered soundtrack. As a result, longtime fans get a familiar journey that looks and sounds like a current-generation release rather than a simple visual upscale.

Combat gets a genuine expansion rather than just a coat of paint. Nine additional weapons pulled from across the wider Halo series join the original arsenal, and players can hijack enemy vehicles for the first time in a Combat Evolved release, including a fully drivable Wraith tank. A new three-mission adventure, Operation: Meteorite, adds Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson to a standalone combat scenario outside the main campaign. Optional Skulls modifiers can also remix any mission with randomized weapons, enemies, and environments, giving the campaign real replay value beyond a single playthrough.
