Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 is out now, adding dual-wielding, two side quests and cross-platform mod support for free. CD PROJEKT RED released it on PC and consoles on October 22, and Switch 2 followed soon after. However, PC modders paid a price, because the patch briefly broke the RED4ext plugins that many mods rely on.
Two Guns, One Cool Tree
The headline feature is a new perk called Double Trouble in the Cool tree. Together with four supporting perks, it lets V wield two Power pistols or revolvers at once. As Kotaku’s patch breakdown points out, shotguns and rifles stay single-handed.
Photo Mode also gets new dual-wielding poses and frames from the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game. On top of that, V can now choose from 20 new hairstyles.
What Cyberpunk 2077 Adds for Edgerunners Fans
The anime tie-in content goes well beyond a single quest:
- Clampdown: A new side quest set before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. It rewards a five-piece gear set based on the character King.
- Welcome to Paradise: A second side quest sends you on a guided tour of Night City, narrated by Richard Night. It unlocks after The Heist and Street Cred level 15.
- Glamdocs: Five new shops restyle Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire and the Projectile Launch System. The changes are purely cosmetic.
- Outfit sets: Maxiwear, Jinguji, NetWatch and IconAmerica sell new sets, and one more set arrives later.
- Minor Arcana: Twelve new Tarot cards give completionists another hunt across the city.
For every line of detail, CD PROJEKT RED’s official patch notes list the full set of changes. They also include fixes such as HDR settings that had no effect on PS5.
Mods on Consoles, Crashes on PC
Update 2.5 brings mod.io support to PC and current consoles, so console players can finally install mods. Consoles also gain a field-of-view slider, while PC adds DLSS 4.5 support. Save files now group by playthrough, and stashes get new item filters.
On PC, the first days were rockier for players with script mods. A bug report on the RED4ext tracker described every RED4ext plugin crashing the game at startup after the patch. Since ArchiveXL, TweakXL and many popular mods depend on that framework, plenty of modded setups refused to start.
Framework authors moved fast, though. Users on the Nexus Mods forums report that the latest Cyber Engine Tweaks, redscript and RED4ext builds work on 2.5. Some still report ArchiveXL conflicts, so updating every framework before you launch remains the safest route.
The Anime Effect, Round Two
This is not the first time an anime has lifted Cyberpunk 2077. In 2022, the first Edgerunners season and Patch 1.6 gave it its best Steam numbers since launch, according to VGC. Earlier in 2026, hype for the second season helped it pass 100,000 concurrent Steam players again.
Switch 2 owners got the update on October 27, as Final Weapon reported. Since then, players on that console have reported crashes and save problems. Meanwhile, the only hotfix so far, version 2.500.200 on October 27, fixes a save-data bug for players in Argentina.
Six Years On, Still Worth Reinstalling
Update 2.5 gives lapsed players a real reason to return, because dual-wielding changes how Cool builds play. Over time, console mod support may matter even more for Cyberpunk 2077 than any single quest. Modders on PC, meanwhile, should wait for their frameworks to update before patching a heavy setup.
