New Warhammer 40k Turn Based Title in Development
Itâs been a while since we had a decent Warhammer 40,000 turn based game and now it looks like weâre going to get a few at once. First there was the announcement that we had a digital remake of Space Hulk on the way and now thereâs another 40k inspired title in the works from the makers of many a tablet strategy title, Slitherine.
Thereâs no word on what form the game will take as of yet, whether itâll be like the grid based titles of old, or if weâll be looking at something more similar to the tabletop experience. What seems most likely though, is that itâll be tablet compatible, as almost everything Slitherine has done in the past has had iOS or Android compatibility.
âThis deal represents yet another testament to our continuous aim to reach new audiences, without losing sight of who we are and what we do bestâ, said JD McNeil, Chairman of the Slitherine Group. âItâs all about creating strategy games that are targeted to a particular audience and addressing a very specific need in the market. The Warhammer 40,000 setting is a perfect fit for the style of strategy games that we make and will be very popular with fantasy and science fiction fans alike. Joining forces with Games Workshop will allow us to bring an wonderfully deep and appropriate IP to the Turn Based Strategy genreâ.
Itâs also been confirmed that development is already underway on multiple platforms. Whatâs the bet that theyâre iOS, Android and Windows?
Jon Gillard, Head of Licensing at Games Workshop said: âSlitherine are clearly established and successful masters of their genre of games, and there are many fans of their work here at GW. Itâs a pleasure to work with such like minded individuals who share our passion for strategy games of all typesâ.
