Oculus : Pas de Rift VR pour Mac tant qu'Apple n'aura pas sorti "un bon ordinateur".

Appleâs Macs and MacBooks have always been known as the go-to option for consumers who prefer to pay a premium for a hassle-free premium quality. Nonetheless, it is no secret that Apple didnât add any top-of-the-line GPUâs to its computers for several years now. This hasnât been an issue so far, but it looks like Appleâs luck has run out with the advent of virtual reality.
Weâve all seen the âgaming on a Macâ memes and witnessed our fair share of horror stories of naĂŻve gamers who paid a premium for a Mac just to discover that it isnât capable of running modern AAA titles. Unfortunately, the situation is only going to get worse as Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey openly confirmed that Oculus Rift would never support Mac until Apple releases âa good computer.â
InterrogĂ©e par ShackNews about the future of Oculus Rift with Apple computers, Plamer replied that âThat is up to Apple. If they ever release a good computer, we will do it.â
âIt just boils down to the fact that Apple doesnât prioritize high-end GPUs. You can buy a $6,000 Mac Pro with the top of the line AMD FirePro D700, and it still doesnât match our recommended specs,â he clarified. âSo if they prioritize higher-end GPUs like they used to for a while back in the day, weâd love to support Mac. But right now, thereâs just not a single machine out there that supports it.â
The most powerful MacBook comes with a measly Intel HD Graphics 5300 GPU while the most powerful Mac for home users can be configured to house an AMD Radeon R9 M395 which around 30% to 40% slower than the Riftâs recommended Radeon R9 290X.
