Set in Europe at the time of the migration of nations (about 200-450 AD), Against Rome takes the player to that part of the continent that has not yet succumbed to the Roman Empire. This vast territory, which the Romans disparagingly called barbaricum, is the home of numerous primitive nations. The player takes control over one of these barbarian tribes, who as a whole stood out for a pronounced lack of cultural achievements, combined with a ferocious belligerence. Skirmishes, raids and plunderings were the order of the day for these barbarians and are, therefore, the great theme of this game. Based in a small village, the player and his barbarians roam the vast forests of Germania or the barren steppes of eastern Europe to raid other settlements in their search for food, weapons and gold. These resources will help the barbarian chieftain expand his settlement and, above all, increase his reputation. While his tribe grows and flourishes, the leader obtains fame and experience and grows to be a master of warfare, until the player's barbarian empire is finally ready to take on the superpower of the time - the mighty Roman Empire and its apparently invincible army.

Against Rome Demo

hmm well this seems a little bit different! at first glance idont think this is going to be all that great. it might be fun to play a barbarian raider for a change though. if you really like this type of game, it might be allright. However, Total War: Rome is going to knock the socks of this title. TW:R is going to get an all new engine, each individual soldier will be 3d, instead of sprites as in previous TW games.it obvious TW:R is going to be better than this, but, this title might be allright as a teaser if your really into roman history.that brings up my first question though, how accurate is this game to history, or is it a bunch of made up fluff?fluff, then its crap.let me play as spartacus, and retrace his entire campaign, and i'll bite. big time. spartacus was the closest thing to sun tzu in the roman era!

from the screen shots it seems like you cant tell wtf is going on in the battles... this is the same reason i dont like warcraft. Starcraft is perfect for me still.. you can see what is going on in the battles with every unit and ur units dont get lost in the damn special graphics.

Spartacus and Sun Tzu?I don't get the connectionOne was a slave and the other was a philosopher.A better analogy would be Jesus and Sun Tzu. I'd like to retrace the steps of Jesus and smite the balls of my killers. Like a Jesunator of sorts.
