Dune: Awakening

Dune: Awakening comes from developer and publisher Funcom. The game released on June 10, 2025 for PC, and it reached PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22, 2026. Players enter an open world survival RPG inspired by Frank Herbert’s Dune and the films from Denis Villeneuve and Legendary Entertainment. The adventure unfolds on the desert planet of Arrakis.

Because Arrakis is harsh, Dune: Awakening asks players to rise from survival to greatness. First, they explore the desert, gather resources, and craft gear. Then crafting and building turn scraps into bases and equipment. Combat adds pressure, so every trip into the open world carries risk. Meanwhile, a cinematic storyline known as Book One pulls players toward its finale.

Funcom launched the game as a full release instead of Early Access, and it has no subscription model. As a result, free updates and optional paid DLC shape the long-term plan. Additionally, the September 2026 update added a single-player mode, so players can choose between solo and online play. Together, these changes make the console launch a second debut for the game.

Open World Survival: Exploration, combat, crafting, and building also drive the core loop. Players therefore balance gear, bases, and risk across the open world.
Single-Player Mode: A full single-player mode also arrived with the September 22, 2026 update. Players can also adjust difficulty and customize the game, so solo runs fit different skill levels.
Story Finale: The update also completes the Book One storyline with a dramatic conclusion. Consequently, new players can follow the story from start to finish.
Console and PC Support: The game runs on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Additionally, Xbox Play Anywhere brings cross-play and shared progress between Xbox and Windows PC Store. On PC, DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, FSR, and XeSS 2 also work.
