Nordic Ashes: Twilight of Yggdrasil is a paid DLC expansion for the roguelite enemy-hell game Nordic Ashes: Survivors of Ragnarok. It is developed and published by Noxfall Studios, a three-person indie team. The DLC released on May 23, 2026 for PC on Steam and GOG. It adds three new realms, a new playable character, themed skins, new relics, and an original soundtrack to the base game.

Nordic Ashes: Twilight of Yggdrasil takes place after you conquer the original nine realms of Yggdrasil. Your mission is to face new challenges, new enemies, and defeat Fenrir — the terror of the gods, son of Loki and slayer of Odin during Ragnarok. Furthermore, three new realms have been discovered for you to explore: Groundheim, Krystalheim, and Sandheim. Each realm introduces unique enemies, mechanics, and outstanding bosses. That expansion of the world continues the Norse-inspired roguelite journey in a meaningful way.

The DLC centers on a story involving Gnöki, an EPIC character who originally appears as a final boss but decides to become a lieutenant instead. You must complete a hero quest to save baby Gnökis trapped in each realm and convince the real Gnöki to join your team. As a result, the new character unlocks after you finish that quest. Additionally, the DLC includes three themed skins for existing survivors (Axeldör, Thyra, and M.I.S.S.I.N.G.) tied to each new realm. The expansion adds real depth to the roguelite loop with new relics that create stronger builds and more synergies.

Three New Realms

Groundheim, Krystalheim, and Sandheim are the three new realms added by the DLC. Each realm has unique enemies, mechanics, and bosses. New Playable Character: Gnöki

Gnöki is a new EPIC playable character who was originally a boss but becomes a lieutenant. You must complete a hero quest to save trapped baby Gnökis before Gnöki joins your team. As a result, unlocking the character is tied to an in-game quest. The quest design gives the DLC a clear narrative goal.

Themed Skins for Survivors

The DLC includes three themed skins, each for a different survivor (Axeldör, Thyra, and M.I.S.S.I.N.G.). Each skin is related to one of the new realms. Moreover, the skins give your survivors a visual identity tied to the new lore. The cosmetic customization adds personality to your runs.

New Relics and Synergies

New relics are introduced to create stronger builds and more synergies. The relic system is central to the roguelite loop, allowing you to experiment with different combinations. In addition, the new relics increase the probability of broken builds and powerful synergies. The DLC expands the strategic depth of the game.

The DLC includes an original soundtrack by Rubén Melià that accompanies your journey through the new realms. The music complements the Norse-inspired atmosphere and intense combat. Global Challenge: Defeat Fenrir

A worldwide secret challenge invites players to defeat Fenrir to earn points. Points from all players are added together to reach a goal and unveil a secret. Furthermore, the challenge is accessible from the main menu in the top right corner. The globalQuest adds a community-driven layer to the DLC experience.
