Gothic 1 Remake’s mage is the most expensive class to build — requiring heavy investment in learning points, mana, and stats — but its spells fall behind the warrior and archer in measured time-to-kill against the same targets. The Magic Rebalance mod addresses this with shorter cast times, increased damage on high-circle spells, reworked area-of-effect radii, and adjusted mana costs. Furthermore, light spam spells like Firebolt and Ice Bolt are intentionally left modest to preserve their role as safe kiting tools. Consequently, a late-game mage finally pays off its investment and plays as comfortably as any other class.

This mod is useful if you have committed to a mage build and find the class underwhelming relative to the resources it demands. The rebalance keeps the mage fragile and tactical while closing the gap in actual combat output. Additionally, every value is documented and editable so you can dial any spell back to vanilla or tune it further to match your preference.

Download the mod archive and extract it to your PC.
Installer UE4SS 3.0.1 or newer for Gothic 1 Remake if you have not already.
Extract the archive into your UE4SS Mods directory:
Gothic 1 Remake\G1R\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\

Launch the game. The mod applies automatically on load.
To tune individual spells or restore a spell to vanilla, open MagicRebalance\Scripts\main.lua, edit the value in the CONFIG block, and restart the game.
To uninstall, delete the MagicRebalance folder. No game files are modified.

Good to Know

Exigences UE4SS (RE-UE4SS) 3.0.1 or newer. Tested on Gothic 1 Remake 1.0.2 (CL 169494).
On Linux, add WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dwmapi=n,b" %command% to your Steam launch options.
