Ducktales: Remastered is being pulled from sale everywhere

If you’ve always meant to buy Ducktales: Remastered to relive your youthful gaming experiences, or just fancy owning a piece of gaming history in a more accessible medium than the original NES game, then you’ll need to act fast. Ducktales: Remastered is on sale for next few days, but by August 9, will be removed from sale everywhere.

“Heads up, everyone; DuckTales: Remastered is leaving digital storefronts in a duck-blur, and will no longer be available for purchase beginning August 8th, 2019,” publisher Capcom said in a statement. It also announced a 75 percent sale price for the game in its final days, to help anyone who wants to play it, grab a copy before it’s gone for good.

“If you’ve already purchased it in the past or if you buy it before the dates and times below, you’ll still be able to access and play the game,” Capcom said. It also highlighted that disc-based versions of the game would continue to work in perpetuity, and any digital purchases will be able to download the game again in the future. But if you haven’t bought it within the allotted time, you’ll be out of luck.

No reason for the game’s removal from stores was given, though typically when this happens it’s down to a licensing issue. If Capcom is set to lose the license for Ducktales games, then it won’t be able to make money from selling games based on that universe anymore.

The removal of Ducktales will be staggered, with some stores seeing it stripped before others. So if you want this game on a particular platform, act fast.
