Epic : la 3DS est inférieure aux exigences d'Unreal Engine 3 et de nos jeux

Most developers who've had access to Nintendo's upcoming 3DS are praising its hardware capabilities which – they claim – puts it somewhere between the original Xbox and the current gen Xbox 360, albeit on a smaller screen. Epic Games VP Mark Rein doesn't seem to that impressed though.

Rein has stated that Epic Games has no plans to port its famous Unreal Engine 3 or develop games for the 3DS since they believe its system specifications are below the minimum requirements for their software.

"We don't have a 3DS, so there's no way for us to verify that, but everything we've been led to believe is that it's below our min-spec," a-t-il déclaré.

To make his point clear, Rein then said explicitly that he doesn't believe that the 3DS is capable of running the Unreal Engine 3 powered demo "Epic Citadel" which was released a few months ago for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

"Like I said, we really don't know enough about it to make a formal comment, but I think if they considered that our engine would be good on it, they would have probably talked to us about it," he mused.

Nintendo 3DS does sport a slower CPU and less RAM than the iPhone, but this should be offset – to an extent – by not having to run the bulky iOS as well as having all phone-related tasks running in the background. More details about the 3DS hardware specs can be found ici.
