Premier Core i9-12900K listé pour $983 en Europe

A listing for Intel’s upcoming Core i9-12900K and other 12th-generation CPUs has appeared on a Dutch Amazon page, confirming a number of speculated and rumored specifications and giving us a first hint of pricing. These chips might not just run hot and power hungry, they might be very expensive too.

Intel has traditionally priced its processors at a premium, holding true to its ideal of higher quality at higher pricing, compared with AMD’s more typical cost competitive, if not performance competitive, hardware. However, in recent years with the growth of AMD market share, the increased strength and value of its processors, things had started to change. Intel 11th-gen CPUs were very cost competitive with AMD, and AMD’s Ryzen 5000 chips were more expensive than previous generations.

With Intel’s 12th-generation, however, it may be returning to its roots. The first listing for its Core i9-12900K has it listed for the dollar equivalent of $983. That does include a 21% VAT sales tax, so you could expect it to be price tagged just under $800 in the U.S., without sales tax, that is.

Elsewhere the Core i7-12700K was listed at $745, and the Core i5-12600K at $376, each with their own 21% VAT tax included.

These are all K-Series CPUs, with integrated graphics and would likely be priced at a premium compared to their non-K and F-series counterparts, but still, these prices are high.

Here’s hoping they include a little early-bird premium and that on release in early November, they’re a little more fairly priced.
