Is this the Nintendo NX’s buttonless controller?
Nintendoâs in-development NX console is something we donât know a lot about. Itâs not even been officially announced â as Nintendo doesnât want to cut short the life of the Wii U â but we all know itâs coming and the first announcement of its development is expected to be made at this yearâs E3 show.
However there are some images going around that purport to show what the next-generation consoleâs controller might be like. If true, this would be a real departure from designs of recent years, with no face buttons on the device itself and a really glossy surface, which should suggest some sort of touch screen.
Thereâs also a headphone jack, with a set of generic earplugs plugged in to it. Judging by other cabling pictured alongside it, we can guess that it charges using a micro-USB cable, and size wise it appears to be about a third of the size of the Wii Uâs chunky tablet controller.
According to the Redditor who posted these images, there is haptic feedback on the touch screen that lets you feel where the buttons are, the rollers on the top act like a mouse scroll wheel and there isnât full motion in the sticks â though they did say this isnât the final design.
If all of this is true, we wonât be seeing the final NX until well into 2017, though rumors did recently suggest Nintendo was scaling back Wii U production to reduce stock before the NX is released.
What do you think of these new controllers, if indeed thatâs what they are?
