Ships, Diving and Marriage Arrive in Crimson Desert’s $24.99 Expansion

Jeu : Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown (DLC) | Développeur/éditeur : Pearl Abyss | Plateformes : PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PS5, Xbox Series X|S | Date de sortie : October 29, 2026, 10:00 PM UTC (October 30 in Asia) | Prix : $24.99 / €24.99 / £19.99

Crimson Desert gets its first paid expansion, Charting the Unknown, at 10:00 PM UTC on October 29. The $24.99 DLC sends Kliff, Damiane and Oongka to sea with ships, diving and a marriage system. However, it lands two weeks late, because Pearl Abyss moved it from October 15 for extra polish.

How Crimson Desert Heads From Pywel’s Coast to the Great Ocean

Pearl Abyss walked through every new system in a six-minute Features Overview video. In addition, KeenGamer’s summary of that video confirms that most of the content sits in a brand-new sea region.

Here is what the expansion adds:

  • Story chapters: Kliff, Damiane and Oongka each continue their own path and meet new allies and threats.
  • Great Ocean of Pywel: A new region with its own storyline, explorable on the surface and underwater.
  • Shipbuilding: You gather resources to build and customize a ship. Then you sail to the islands, defeat enemy forces and set up Greymane strongholds.
  • Diving: Sunken ruins hold treasure and resources for anyone willing to go under the waves.
  • Romance and marriage: Earning the trust of certain characters can lead to a relationship and, eventually, a wedding.
  • Housing and business: You can place walls and windows, decorate liberated castles and lease facilities across Pywel.
  • Boss Gauntlet: Powerful bosses from across Pywel return for one fight after another.

A Two-Week Slip and a Late-Night Unlock

Pearl Abyss gave the DLC an October 15 date at the September State of Play. On September 30, though, the studio delayed it by two weeks. It said the team needed more time to deliver a more stable experience.

Because the unlock happens at the same moment worldwide, the local time varies by region:

  • North America: 3:00 PM PT and 6:00 PM ET on October 29.
  • Europe: 10:00 PM in the UK and 11:00 PM CET on October 29.
  • Asia and Oceania: The morning of October 30, with Korea and Japan at 7:00 AM.

Le official press release lists the price at €24.99 and £19.99 across PS5, Xbox, Steam and the Epic Games Store. You also need Crimson Desert Enhanced to play it, and the Mac App Store version misses the launch. Meanwhile, pre-orders include a Charter’s Diving Set for Kliff and Oongka, plus a lighter set for Damiane.

Six Million Sales and a Steady Stream of Free Patches

The base game launched on March 19, 2026, to mixed Steam reviews, as PC Gamer noted at the time. Even so, it sold two million copies on its first day. Sales then passed five million within a month.

Later, Pearl Abyss announced six million copies after just 83 days, as tbreak reported. The company called it an unprecedented result for a Korean single-player game. On Steam, the open-world RPG had peaked at 276,261 concurrent players.

Meanwhile, the studio kept patching at a fast pace. Difficulty settings, boss rematches and mounted fast travel all arrived for free. Finally, the free 2.00.00 update turned the game into Crimson Desert Enhanced, a step DLCompare counted after 17 patches.

The First Bill After Months of Freebies

Charting the Unknown is the first time Pearl Abyss asks Crimson Desert players to pay again. On paper, the price looks fair, because the feature list is long and every earlier upgrade cost nothing.

Still, the delay is a reminder that this game has not always launched in a polished state. Wait for the first Steam reviews of the expansion before you spend money on a ship.
