Tripwire Boss : Second Golden Age pour PC Gaming, c'est maintenant !
Tripwire Interactive studio president John Gibson believes that PC gaming market is in a much better way than critics believe.
âI think itâs a second golden age for PC gaming right now,â a-t-il dĂ©clarĂ©.
Tripwire Interactive was founded in 2005 after capitalizing on the success on their Unreal Tournament mod, Red Orchestra, and turning it into a successful franchise. The studio then released Killing Floor in 2009 followed by Rising Storm in 2013. The studio is now working on Killing Floor 2 for PlayStation 4 and PC.
âIn 2005 when we first started talking to Valve, everyone was beating the drum: âPC gaming is dead, PC gaming is dead,'â added Gibson. âAnd now itâs like, wow, 80 million people on Steam, itâs this huge platform⊠I look at it as a huge opportunity. I think thatâs great. Youâve got emerging technologies like VR⊠maybe itâs going to be the next big thing, maybe itâs not, but it seems really exciting. It might be something that pushes PC gaming even to another level.â
Despite the healthy market growth, Gibson submits that it is now much harder for indies to repeat his success story.
âI feel a little bad for newer independent developers coming out because itâs not going to be as easy for them to get peopleâs attention as it was for us,â a-t-il admis. âItâs still possible to make it, itâs just a little harder to get noticed.â
