Crytek Showcases New CryEngine

Crytek has showcased the latest iteration of its famous CryEngine graphics engine.

According to the company, CryEngine supports current-gen, PS4, Wii U, PC, and Xbox One, with more platforms to come.

CryEngine 3 was released in 2009, after that the company decided to drop version numbers from the engine's name. "Since CryEngine 3 was launched in 2009, we've dramatically changed the engine so many times, with so many major new features, it's not the same engine anymore," explained biz dev director Carl Jones.

According to Jone, Crytek has "overhauled our entire lighting system, built movie-quality character rendering and animation solutions, vastly improved the speed and effectiveness of our Sandbox editor, and even our rendering has changed with tessellation, pixel-accurate displacement mapping, and now physical-based rendering."

Looks like all the other computer game graphics I've been seeing lately. The water evaporating at the end was neat, other than that I don't see any difference really. Metro Last Light looks just as good, does all the cloth physics shit & all that & the geometry levels with normal tessellation enabled are incredible & that game's mostly in the dark. I don't see anything any better here. Games need better animation, environment interaction, physics & AI before any so called improvements to graphics. Sorry Crytek, this is not a big deal. I'm glad your blowing trees will look a little more realistic in your next jungle paradise FPS & all, but we've seen all this shit before, pretty much. No one uses your engine. Unreal Engine is the choice for everyone's gaming needs & it looks just as good & by the sounds of it, it's easier to optimize.

You're a complete moron. You

You're a complete moron. You use Metro as a reference and compare it to a demo. Listen dipshit, pull your head out of your ass and realize that this is just one game and Crytek has always been one of the best if not the best engine in graphics. Everything you said about what you want in games is what they do in a fucking graphics engine you cunt. Please don't post your meaningless polluting bullshit so we don't have to suffer in the presence of your god damn stupidity you motherless fuck.

Just another Ctytek tech demo

Anybody that actually watched this video and thought you'll be seeing this type of thing in next gen consoles will be sadly disappointed when they dumb it the fuck down as always. It was bad enough when they cashed in to develop it for the consoles not that I can blame them, it's where all the money is in the market. I'm still a huge fan of the Dice and their Frostbite engine and not just because of Battlefield 3 but because between them showcased their engine and you playing on it, you weren't disappointed. Then again all this could have been done years and years ago if consoles didn't slow the fucking process down. With "Next-gen" right around the corner, it's no surprise they are coming out with it all now.

ronson49's Laser Pointer forum

Hi there all! I got the girlfriend to agree to get me a laser for my xmas, the ones i have had in the past have been puny 1mw cheap red ones. I looked into it recently and noticed that in terms of burning, lasers are pretty lame at the end of the day. I mean pointers. Id like to just zap some bloons within eye distance but in fairness i aint paying hundreds of pounds for that privilige! So with that said, what i guess i want with a laser is just to see the beam and point at distant things when im bored and needing to go out for a smoke. So can someone give me some advice? I just want a dense laser beam with quite large distance. I have seen blue, green, yellow and red lasers stretching from 5mw to 500+. If i just want a cool beam in a street/room/dark setting, what color is best to buy? Also, in what way is MW related to brightness? If i have a 100MW green laser and a 500MW green laser, will the 500MW green laser be significantly brighter? Thats really all i wanted to know Ill keep the burning laser as something to look forward to in 2040! Cheers, C

so we just need to know, did
