Microsoft Created Xbox To Beat Sony Who Refused To Befriend Them

Former VP of Windows Sales at Microsoft, Joachim Kempin, revealed that the company decided to enter the console market only to beat Sony in their own game after Sony refused to befriend them.

"The main reason was to stop Sony," he spelled it out clearly.

"Sony was always very arm's length with Microsoft. Yeah, they bought Windows for their PCs but when you really take a hard look at that, they were never Microsoft's friend. And Microsoft in a way wanted them to be a friend because they knew they had a lot of things we could have co-operated on because they are, in a way, an entertainment company, you know?"

And the original PlayStation was what sealed the deal for Microsoft. Back then, Bill Gates himself worried that a future PlayStation could evolve into a full-fledged computer or a more comprehensive entertainment device that would threaten Microsoft’s PC dominance.

"As soon as they came out with a video console, Microsoft just looked at that and said 'well, we have to beat them, so let's do our own.'," Kempin explained.

So what's the prob?

If Phony's POS evolved into something more like a PC, then it is at best, a PC. You can't get any better than a PC, so WTF is M$ so worried about? They bring about their own demise with garbage like Win8 & the other $hit they try to force on consumers, so I don't see why they had anything to worry about from Phony.

ah

And then they ditched it like a foster child. I bought one for 50 dollars shipment included. How embarracing can that be? The ps2 is still sold in the market O.o

What could...

Today, we could have AI hardware dedicated cards, and Im not talking about graphic cards with a wrapper for code. Dedicated physic cards, again, not some machine made for graphics doing computations it shouldnt. A true PC-like Xbox, with upgrades, downgrades, free windows OS administration. But no, instead; we have Nvidia destroying the creativity in civilian graphical technology and the whole market in general, since everything is based off Nvidia. The truth, since AA and shaders... what have we really got that is new from them? Nothing! You think textures look cool because of shaders, you are wrong, they look cool mainly due to a technology developed by Matrox 10 years ago! In years, Nvidia has done nothing but win a lot of money and totally destructure the economic and creative aspect of the market. They even outsource their outdated tech to console and mobile markets, making everything in that sector and every sector related stale and in constant degeneration. Old games, for every system, old tech with a multiplyer and totally stale in terms of visuals. I really hope that particle engine fucks them up, totally. That is if they dont buy it out first, which they will. They will show that small team so much money and options that they will be overloaded and comply with the buy out. At least DirectX still comes up with a few visual tricks on each run, how ironic. From MS, the same thing that brought a great idea as the original Xbox, and turn it into nothing more than a rival destroying machine without any particular interest in really bringing what they promised in the first place. Remember those wild ideas about a free machine called Xbox? A PC within a BOX!

If you know how to setup a pc

If you know how to setup a pc properly you wont have computer issues, viruses. as for boot times, these days pc have SSD's Solid state drives and can boot in 8-15sec. as for games install look for a nocd/dvd patch no disc needed games load fast of SSD or good fast HD's. And as PC hardware is constantly evolving the consoles will always be behind.

I never had a problem running

I never had a problem running a game on pc, all games worked old and new and ran perfect, never had pc problems as well with exception off HDD dying due to very old age. The reason that you got to install pc games is because they need to unpack all the files that are on the dvd or cd because most contain more information then a standard console game. And about half of ps3 games must be installed you got no choice.

wrong

@Anonymous please.....consoles have boot times, hardware and software issues. you have to install certain games to be able to run and load the best they can. Viruses are almost a thing of the past. With every coming generation of consoles are becoming more like Pc's. this upcoming gen will be using off the shelf pc parts with a basis of windows 8 in the next xbox so yeah......
