Nioh 3 is Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo’s next chapter in the acclaimed action RPG series. Set after the events of both previous games, you play as Tokugawa Takechiyo, the grandchild of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Your quest for power means battling deadly yokai, rival samurai, and otherworldly forces in a dark, mythic Japan. For the first time, the game features open-field exploration and lets you switch freely between fast Ninja and classic Samurai playstyles for deeper, riskier combat.
Core Gameplay and Features

Switch between Samurai mode (stances, Ki Pulse, weapon-focused combos, parry system) and Ninja mode (agile, aerial moves, three ninja tools, “Mist” clone skills). Both styles offer unique upgrades and attacks—choose your path or mix tactics on the fly.
Explore semi-open world environments full of side quests, towns, hidden bosses, treasures, and branching paths. Points of interest open up more world lore and challenge.
Customize your character’s look and builds. Collect weapons, armor, Soul Cores, and Guardian Spirits. Shape your approach and loadout for each challenge.
Savage boss battles and arena-style Crucible zones test your skill and preparation. Each open-field map ends with a high-level, punishing challenge for powerful rewards.
Balance health, stamina (Ki), and two different resource management mini-systems. Samurai style uses traditional Ki Pulse, while Ninja style employs Mist for misdirection and burst attacks.
Multiplayer modes: Summon Visitor for instant co-op on tough fights and Expedition mode for exploring maps with friends. Full support for online sessions and matchmaking.
The action now rewards creativity—find smart ways to combine Samurai and Ninja tools, and adapt to different enemy types and environments.
