Activision Plames Console Transition For Poor CoD: Ghosts Sales

After careful analysis of the market, Activision Blizzard found that Call of Duty: Ghosts is selling way below expectations for one simple and clear reason: "the challenges of the console transition year."

The 11th title in the series with the same basic gameplay elements, Ghosts has been ill received by critics who got bored of rehashing the same old formula every year. Nonetheless Activision's CEO, Eric Hirshberg, is adamant that low review scores have nothing to do with the game's (relatively) poor market performance.

"The critical response doesn't always mirror the fans' appreciation of a game," he argued. "We actually do read the critics' comments and take them into consideration during our creative process, but we just can't measure ourselves by that yardstick alone."

Basically, Activision believes that the fact that Ghosts has low review scores AND low sales numbers has nothing to do with the game's quality or the franchise's freshness. One has to wonder, how the console transition hurt Ghosts sales given that it is available on all consoles of both generations and PC.

uh no

I've known better for the last few cod titles. That's why I still get Battlefield 4 for my new console already, I'll wait to borrow my brothers cod for the single player portion, won't bother multiplayer this time. p.s. add vehicles and get rid of kill streak rewards, or just turn kill streak rewards into something you buy for.. however many points you earn per match.. single match currency points of sorts idk.

think about this

COD is a powerhouse series that is imploding on it's own weight. Basically if you don't change it the players complain, but if you do then they complain it is not the same. The REAL problem is the same problem with the Guitar Hero series...TOO MANY, TOO SOON. There should be a two year gap between games. Give the players time to miss the game and want to come back to it. Also give your dev team time to be more creative. Of course you are going to get rehashed code year after year, the time lines are to aggressive. This is what happens when greed controls your product.

So why didn't the "console

So why didn't the "console transition" affect BF4 or NBA 2k14 sales? Maybe instead of being in denial about the situation they should do some things to freshen up the series. Making excuses to why the game has been a disappointment certainly isnt going to help the future of the franchise.

COD sucks

Yeah blame the consoles transition.... Only the idiots and kids keep on buying the same game over and over year after with different paint jobs. Most have wised up to the crap.
