Saint Row Dev: Make Your Game Worth Stealing Before Complaining About Piracy

Not a day goes by without a game developer or publisher complaining about piracy, but it seems that Volition - the studio currently developing Saints Row: The Third - has different priorities.

"I don't think [piracy] is something at the forefront for us," Volition studio manager Eric Barker said. "First and foremost, we want to make sure we're making a game people would want to pirate. Let's make a game that's worth stealing, and then we'll worry about making sure they don't."

I just want to say.. Saints

I just want to say.. Saints Row 1 was good.. Saints Row 2? I tried to play it on my PC, and it had some shitty autoaim, ran like ass compared to GTA4 even on release day and suffered from a really weird speed issue and I hated that... same goes for Red Faction Guerrilla... never buying another Volition game on PC since they shit all over those two:

Speed issue:

I don't even think I'm gonna pirate the new Red Faction game since I never bothered to finish it on steam... and Volition never setup SteamCloud which is retarded so my save games are gone anywho.. it was hard enough to get as far as I did before in fast forward and I know there's a speed fix but the game ain't worth it.

Meh

The companies shoveling this stiff junk out are no less enthused at such horrible marketing. Obviously when they dress a birthday cake like a pony and hail the onslaught of pirates, then when the certain level of damage is done or what they consider enough. They go 360 and blame the lack of intellect that went into said crappy product and cry tears of pain and blame paying customers because they couldn't stop piracy, there is a grey zone yes and it works both ways.

To the screwball companies still complaining, change your policies and practices, drop costs, drop DRM and you have nothing to worry about.

I never played Saints Row.

Seems like a GTA clone. Nothing wrong w/that, just seems like something I may have played before.

Much respect for those statements. I might play one of those games sometime. Can't say I'd pay for it. Can't say I wouldn't.

I can say that you can't stop "piracy" so don't even fuckin' try. Make a game worth stealin' & make it easier to buy. That's the best you can do. That's how you determine whether I pay to play.

i liked sr2

i had tons of fun playing sr2 and my pc had no issues running it only people i seen with tons of buggs were pirates control speed res issues. but i had no issues hell i still play the game i think it was funner then gta 4 and i also had rfg and that also played well i think your pc just blows dude no disrespect intended just speaking from experience, game is open world like gta and i think that is as close as you get in comparison sr2 had its own wacky story wich was super cool custom protagonist different game mechanics and no auto aim i dont know why you think it got auto aim it dont its point and shoot if you didnt like it then thats your personal preference but i did and enjoyed it and am looking forward towards the new one {hoping we get another pc version and dev mod kit }plz volition we love mods} but all in all i agree make a game worth stealing before breaking it to keep it protected from piracy
